Rituals and Routines

Today I feel called to share a philosophical approach to wellness in daily life. You probably hear a lot about self-care, and healthy habits or routines from people in professions like mine. But I have found it is far, far more effective to reframe these habits as Rituals. Naming these activities as capital “R” Rituals honors the cyclical or repeat nature needed by our earth bodies for integration, AND!! It calls in the deep heart knowledge that we are whole, and holy, and that living our life here on this beautiful planet is sacred work.

  • Those slow stretches that warm you up to the day are raising your arms to the sky to receive your blessings and rooting your legs deeply into the glorious Earth that nourishes and sustains you.
  • That colorful salad is the Sun’s constant, generous Light given form.
  • Preparing your meal is an offering of love to nourish your tender, joyful heart.
  • Time on the treadmill is holding the vision of moving forward into the beautiful future waiting for you.
  • Lifting those weights is giving you the strength to endure the hardship that is part of the Earth experience and increasing your capacity to give back.
  • Those hours asleep are a gift to allow your hardworking body to heal, and an invitation for your guides to bring you dreams of wisdom and meaning.

When we give a whole hearted, “YES” to the small Rituals that make up our day, when we approach them with intent, when we hold within ourselves the knowledge of precious purpose and deep investment of Self, we are opening to embodiment and alignment with our soul’s Purpose. So many small Rituals. Such a gorgeous celebration of life, and meaning, and existence amidst the mundane.

And as your heart, mind, body, and soul align into harmony with each other your path radiates out before you, clear and waiting for you to step onto it.
